Purpose

Leads and oversees the parts operations across the organization, aiming to optimize return on investments by fostering growth in parts sales and efficiently managing inventories, data, staffing, and budgets. Focuses on attracting, retaining, and nurturing department personnel. Formulates and executes strategies to expand the parts business, both in physical stores and online platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Corporate Parts Manager to develop, maintain and manage the execution of the overall corporate strategic aftermarket plan
  • Develops, maintains and manages the execution of the parts department strategic business plan for the organization
  • Creates annual Parts Department goals and budget for the organization, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives
  • Develops, communicates, enforces, and monitors effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction as well as Parts Department efficiencies
  • Maintains regular communication with parts managers monitors and updates them on progress towards and achievement of goals, while also providing feedback on areas requiring improvement
  • Directs and controls parts operations within the dealership to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing return on investment through parts sales growth, inventory control, staffing, and budgets
  • Optimizes and maintains documentation of parts department processes
  • Monitors individual and overall Parts Department performance relative to parts sales, inventory management and expense control in line with the organization’s objectives
  • Creates and facilitates the execution of the parts department marketing plan including advertising, marketing and promotional programs to grow parts sales for the organization in collaboration with Marketing Coordinator
  • Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual inventory and proper counter procedures
  • Maximizes use of all order discount programs to achieve management stock order goals
  • Collaborates with Human Resources with recruiting and staffing efforts
  • Drive the development and execution of a comprehensive online parts sales strategy, including establishing a robust online presence
  • Lead initiatives to encourage and facilitate customer engagement with online parts sales platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective online parts sales solutions and optimize customer utilization
  • Continuously analyze online parts sales data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive strategic decision-making
  • Actively monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform the evolution of our online parts sales approach
  • Develop and implement online parts sales initiatives, promoting their benefits and fostering customer adoption
  • Maintain a dealer customer database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date contact information and machine data to facilitate targeted marketing efforts and enhance customer engagement
  • Develop, implement, and drive the utilization of the customer contact center to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline communication channels
  • Develops and implements the Parts Department employee compensation plans
  • Oversees training for parts department staff and assist with the achievement of overall company training goals
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years experience in managing Parts Department operations
  • 5 years of management experience
  • Excellent understanding of financial principles relative to Parts Department operations
  • Experience with off road, construction, lawn, heavy equipment, or automotive industry
  • Familiar with inventory control measures including inventory audits
  • Proficient in computer operations and applications, with an understanding of Microsoft Suite programs
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting internal reports
  • Experience communicating effectively
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelors degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required and good driving record
